CRS/E Season 2001
2001 was the first year of Camp Rising Sun Europe, so the campers were pioneers! And what a nice lot of pioneers! Friendships were formed fast, the pattern was set the first week, and almost from the first day camp life flourished as if the European camp had existed for years.
39 girls from 32 countries in Europe and other parts of the world were together for 7 weeks from June 23 to August 10 in Stendis near Holstebro in Jutland, Denmark. One first year camper from each country (two from South Africa) and 8 second and third year campers who had been in Camp Rising Sun Clinton in USA the years before.
With camp director Sarah Apedaile and assistant camp director Jan Ingemansen heading a staff of 14 (including two "video counselors" and the Danish cook) the stage was set for a season of companionship, activities, and personal experience.
