The staff at CRS/E is, like the campers, an international crew. Most of the counselors are former campers and thus well educated in the camp program. Our staff members are adults with a high level of personal maturity. Counselors must be able to motivate campers to try on new roles and experiences. Most of the counselors are assigned an area in which they are skilled, for example, journalism, drama, nature, hiking, arts or music and are responsible for the camp activities in that area. The camper/staff ratio is 4:1. The staff meet for staff training prior to the arrival of the campers and participate in end-of-season evaluation and shutdown when the campers have departed.
